Zippy Internet
Well, I had issues for about hour with my internet & telephone (both provided by my cable company) and after it all came back up for what looks like good today I ran a speed test.
But then, I opened another browser tab and ran a second test because I could not believe the result and lo & behold, it was back to my paid for service which is 30m down, but actually get about 34m down. Oh well, felt good while it lasted!!

The 1st test looked pretty damn good, didn't it?!. Well, 34 down and a minimum of 3 up would b more then sufficiënt 4 Forza m8.

If that would remain stable during sessions it's fine. Mostly it's, when beeïng in big lobbies with more people having instable connections, the servers go look 4 the 1 with the best connection to serve as host and the one's with the most instable run in 2 problems while host's get switched.GLR Redneck wrote:Damn...I get a fraction of that!

So u take off 'bout 34% off their bill, c if they react!! Once after several calls 2 the provider, and them saying ,,ohh, sure, we fix it", every time, and nothing happened, i did that and all alarms went off, immediatly calling me why i did that and stuff. Then i got their attention.BOOST wrote:heres mine. weird part is i pay for 30mb download speed???

id rather not complain to them because my plan is also for only 2mb upload speed and well...... kinda got alot more than that, lol.
for some reason all time warner plans only allow for 2mb upload speed. i dont get it.

Those numbers are the best I can get with DSL...the only high speed available here. It's been working ok so far and definately better that what I have had for the past 1 and a half years!

Yeah, Redneck, at least you can race again with what you have. I have not notice you lag at all either so that's good.
Damn Nelly, nice upload speed m8!
Boost, I was with Time Warner for along time (like 20 years), if you get that kind of upload speed don't sweat it to much but check speed at different times of day. Usage on your section of the cable depends on what everyone around you is doing with theirs as well. You may find at times you do get 30 down, but like you say don't rock the boat!

Router: I have the Linksys E2000, works fine. I have the XBOX cable'd to it, and the PC wifi'd because of printer-wifi. Then i went, luckely with the help of a PC-nerd friend ;-) , thru a whole list of Router pre-settings at the install menu. Firewall, ip-addres, GHz and game settings. Now the xbox allways get's priority over pc, about 70%-30%. And having the xbox hooked up with cable also helps the cause of course.

Re: Zippy Internet
Yeah, if your using the wireless router they gave you it could be an issue, is it separate from you cable modem or all-in-one? If it is separate you may benefit from a different one but if your hooking to it WiFi and it works good, why go to the extra expense? You would gain more by going wired to the Xbox over WiFi. IDK Sounds like your working ok so if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Re: Zippy Internet
well i have a linksys router i used with my old setup. when i upgraded, they gave me a modem/router all in one deal. the trouble is, the all in one they gave me has horrible range. i get one bar on my cell from it at the opposite end of the house. the linksys router i have has a very strong range. i can go a 1/4 mile down the road and still pick up the signal, lol. surprised no one near my house has brain cancer, lol.

Re: Zippy Internet
Well break that puppy out, throw tomato on it and run that instead! With tomato you can crank the output up even more! Plus you can change that annoying light on the front as well and make it a different color.

Re: Zippy Internet
You can still hook your linksys up to the switch and use two AP's. If you name them the same and use the same security you won't know the difference. If you have a hard line at a different part of the house you can further extend your coverage. If you name them differently then you will simply have two different WiFi networks available.
